APPLYING TO THE CENTRE
APPLICATION FORM
The applications for admissions to the Centre are generally
invited in July and/or December every year through an advertisement in the
national press. Applications are invited on prescribed Application Form enclosed
in the CEWRE prospectus. The prospectus can be obtained at cost by writing to
the Director at the following address:

The completed Application Forms should be returned to the
above address by hand or post before the closing date.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
The applicant must submit his application for admission to the
Centre on duly filled Application Form enclosed in this prospectus and enclose
the following with the application:
INTERVIEWS AND SELECTION
M.Sc/M.Phil. Degree: The candidates are selected on the basis
of academic/professional record and the interview. Appearance for an interview
is mandatory. Interviews are held on the date/time prescribed in the admission
advertisement: The list of selected candidates is posted on notice board.
Successful students are also informed by post about their selection and schedule
for fee payment, hostel allotment and start of classes. Admission to the Centre
is subject to subsequent approval and registration of students' name by the UET.
Ph.D. degree: The
potential applicants are required to prepare a research proposal (may be brief
initially) before applying for admission and attach it with the application
form. The applicants are encouraged to visit the Director and the Faculty to
discuss the research idea and firm up the proposal. The application for
admission may be submitted for consideration any time. After receiving an
application, if applicant is in
The student will then prepare a thorough research proposal on
the prescribed format for submission to the Directorate of Advance Studies and
Research of UET where it will be scrutinized thoroughly. The student may
occasionally be asked to present, clarify and defend his research proposal
before the University's Board of Advance Studies and Research following which
the Ph.D. candidature may be approved or rejected by UET. Time taken by the
student to prepare research proposal, and time required for scrutiny and
acceptance by the University are not included in the time limit for the degree.
INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS
Application Procedure
Centre of Excellence in Water Resources Engineering welcomes
international applicants. At present there are student from
Qualification of a suitable standard from most of the
countries in the World are acceptable to the Centre. On submitting an
application, the applicant has to submit transcripts of their qualification
showing the subjects taken and the grade obtained in each qualification. The
Pakistani Mission in the applicant country will provide information regarding
the equivalent qualification required for admission. Else you may inquire by
writing to the Center and sending copies of the transcripts before applying.
All the
foreign applicants must route their applications through the Pakistan Diplomatic
Missions in their country and the Ministry of Education, Government of Pakistan,
English Language
All the international students need to show an adequate
knowledge of written and spoken English. Applicants should have to submit a
certificate of proficiency in English from Pakistani Mission along with
application form.
Entry & Study in
An official letter of acceptance will be sent if your
application is successful processed and you are admitted in the Centre. Students
are then required to get visa from Pakistani Mission in their country to enter

STATUES, RULES &
REGULATIONS
(A)
Definition
1.
In these regulations unless there is anything repugnant in the subject or
context:
a)
"Academic Committee" means
the Academic Committee the Centre of Excellence in Water Resources Engineering.
b)
"Centre" means the Centre of
Excellence in Water Resources Engineering.
c)
“Director" mean the Director
of the Centre.
d)
“University" means the
e)
“Board" means the Board of
Governors of the Centre.

Admission & Registration Requirements

a).
For M.Sc. or M.Phil. Degree in Water Resources Management, Engineering
Hydrology, and Water Resources Engineering the candidate must have at least
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Agricultural Engineering in Ist division or an
equivalent qualification recognized by the
b.
For M.Sc. Degree in Hydropower Engineering, the candidate must have
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering in Ist division or an equivalent
qualification recognized by the
c.
For Ph.D. degree in Water Resources Management, Engineering Hydrology,
and Water Resources Engineering, a candidate must have M.Sc or M.Phil degree in
the relevant field of specialization. A candidate with practical experience will
be preferred.
3.
Candidates are selected by the Admission Committee on the bases of their
academic grades and performance in the test and interview. Admission to the
Centre for the postgraduate studies is subjected to approval and registration by
the University.
4.
All admission made by the Admission Committee shall be reported to the
Dean of the Faculty concerned for registration.
5.
The admission of any student is liable to be terminated by the Director
on the recommendation of his Supervisor/ Advisory Committee at any time, if his
academic progress or conduct is not found to be satisfactory or a full time
student fails to pass three subjects, and a part time students fails to pass two
subjects in each of the first two terms.
6.
When the admission of a student has been notified, he/she shall pay the
prescribed dues within the period fixed for the purpose by the Director,
otherwise his/her admission is liable to be cancelled.
C)
Course Work
7. As a
partial fulfillment for M.Sc, M.Phil and Ph.D degrees, a student must
successfully complete the prescribed course work as given earlier in the
“Courses” and outlined in Appendix B as recommended by his Supervisor/Advisory
Committee
i)
The subjects, to be offered
in any term shall be decided by the Director in consultation with the staff
members of the Centre and shall be announced at least one month before the
commencement of the term.
ii)
The courses of study and
their detailed syllabi shall be revised from time to time by the Academic
Committee and approved by the competent bodies well in time before the term is
commenced.
iii)
The term tests will be held
after every four to six weeks in the term.
iv)
The objective in course
coverage should be to develop student's ability for original thought and to
produce innovative solutions to practical problems. The courses would therefore
be intensive rather than extensive in nature.
v)
The minimum and maximum number of courses enrolled by any student in a
term shall be as under:
