KEY QUALIFICATIONS

Dr. Latif has more than 30 years teaching and research experience in Irrigation, Drainage, Water Resources Management, and Conjunctive Use of Surface Groundwater Resources to his credit. He started pioneer work at the Centre of Excellence in Water Resources Engineering since its establishment in 1977. During his initial period of service at the Centre he helped in installation of the equipment in different laboratories of the newly established Institute. He worked with full zeal and established irrigation laboratory at the Centre.

After serving the Centre about eight months he proceeded to Canada for M.Sc degree and joined the Centre in 1979 after completing his Masters degree from the University of Manitoba, Canada. This was the time when teaching classes were started at the Centre after approving the rules and regulations from the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore.  Dr. Latif started teaching the subject of Irrigation to the M.Sc students. He repeatedly taught this subject till 1984 when he proceeded for his Ph.D degree at the Utah State University, USA. Dr. Latif worked on research on study such as Evaluation of Salinity Control and Reclamation Project (SCARP-I) that was funded by United Nation University, Tokyo. He also helped the then Director of the Centre (Prof. Dr. N. M. Awan) in preparing and submitting a proposal on Pressurized Irrigation System that was funded by Pakistan Council of Appropriate Technology, Islamabad.

Dr. Latif returned to the Centre in 1988 after completing his Ph.D degree and undertook major teaching load for the Postgraduate students. He repeatedly taught the subjects of Advanced Irrigation Engineering, Drainage Engg. and Management, Groundwater Hydrology & Economics of Water Resources Planning and Management. Apart from teaching, Dr. Latif also formulated and submitted different proposals relating to his field of interest and worked on different studies/projects as briefly listed below:
